Just what is Arlington Collegiate High School?
Arlington Collegiate High School is a Texas Education Agency-approved early college high school at which high school students have the opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and up to 60 hours of college credit or an associate's degree from Tarrant County College.
Students are typically first generation college students from under-served population groups within the Arlington (Texas) Independent School District. They come from the twelve AISD junior high schools and compete for the approximately 120 places available each fall. The school opened in August 2014 with about 120 ninth grade students. Students' course loads, while similar to traditional high school students' are primarily AP and honors curriculum, combined with dual credit classes taught by college faculty members.
